Chana Dal Palak Recipe

Namaskar and welcome to
Today we will make chana dal palak.
Let's see what all ingredeints are required for making chana dal palak.
Spinach - 1/2 kg (500 grams) (washed)
Chana dal - 3/4 cup (150 grams)(soaked overnight or 5-6 hours before bringing in use)
Paste - 3-4 tomatoes,2 green chilies and 1 inch ginger piece
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida - 1 pinch
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Red chilly powder - less then 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Salt - as per taste (1 tsp)
Green coriander - 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
Ghee - 1 tbsp
Garam masala - less then 1/4 tsp
Place the spinach leaves in sieve after washing. Now cut it finely.
Cut the spinach on chopping board or knife or whatever way is easy.
Now cook it in pressure cooker.
For this place the pressure cooker on flame and add spinach into it.
Also add chana dal.
Now add 2-3 cup water.
Add this much quantity so that dal and spinach
get drenched nicley. Add more water if needed.
Add salt and cover the cooker with help of lid.
Cook for 3-4 minutes more after it simmer's once.
Now reduce the flame and cook dal for 2-3 more minutes.
Dal is cooked,take it off flame and prepare masala for the dal.
For this take 1 tbsp ghee or add 1-2 tbsp ghee as per your taste.
Now add asafoetida,cumin seeds.
When cumin seeds turn little brown add turmeric powder,coriander powder and tomato paste.
Saute the masala until oil starts floating on the surface.
It takes 4-5 minutes for cooking the masala.
Keep stirring constantly after every 1-2 minutes.
Dal made with desi ghee comes out very delicious.
If you prefer adding onions, then add ghee or oil for making
onion dal and then add onions and saute for few minutes.Repeat rest of the procedure.
Masala is ready,now mix dal into it.
Cook the dal for 2-3 minutes more.
Let it boil for few more minutes so that all spices get mixed nicely.
Dal is ready, now add garam masala and green coriander in dal.
Dal is ready and taste awesome.
Mouth watering palak chana dal is ready.
We have made this dal with 500 grams spinach and 150 grams chana dal.
This much quantity of dal can be served to 4-5 family memebrs as main coarse dish.
Serve palak chana dal with chapatti,rice,parntha or naan.
