Technology is constantly changing and fast i just recently purchased a new laptop with all
the bells and whistles. It's got the newest processor and even supports
intel wireless display technology
so i can wirelessly push what I see on my computer
to my HD TV using D-Link's MainStage TV Adapter,
but the one thing that's missing is USB 3.0.
USB 3.0 allows me to transfer date up to ten times faster than the old
USB 2.0.
That means that i back up my computer much quicker, move my huge music library
much faster and copy my HD movies to my USB 3.0 hard drive in much less time.
So if you have tons of data and no USB 3.0 port on your laptop, you need D-Link's
2-port USB 3.0 Express Card, let me show you how easy it is to set up.
First the DUB-1320 is for laptops,
I haven't seen a desktop with an express card slot,
but if yours has one i'm sure that would work to, but this brings me to my second
requirement express card slot.
express card thirty four or fifty four will do
but this is a must
if you're not sure check with your laptop manufacture.
Now let's get started, but first, get a pair of scissors because they come in
handy when opening the package.
In the package you get the 2-Port USB 3.0 express card,
installation CD and quick install guide
and lastly a power adapter for faster charging of those power-hungry USB
devices.
The device is pretty straight forward you have two USB 3.0 ports up front
but not to worry, these do work with older USB 2.0 and
first-generation USB devices as well.
On the side, the power connector for that extra power umf,
and as you see here this is side that you slide in the computer. But before we do
that
we need to install the drivers
insert the CD and follow the prompts to install.
Drivers or device drivers tell a computer how to interact with the device
in this case the DUB-1320.
The program on CD will auto run and when you see the main menu click on "Install
Drivers" in the left navigation.
The installation process is simple and is mainly there to let you know what's going on
with your computer, and to ensure that you aren't installing malicious software.
So as i said before follow the prompts until you get to the "Finished" button,
it should only take a minute or so.
After it's finished go ahead and slide the DUB-1320 into the laptops
express card slot.
That's it, it's that simple.
