This is your Gateway Project Update for Friday, July 13, 2012.
Crews are finishing work on the foundation for the roadway
that will allow vehicles to enter the plaza from the freeways and
travel directly to Canada. Concrete paving also continues.
Two lanes are on schedule to open to traffic on August 1.
Construction of support piers also continues, with crews setting forms,
putting in steel reinforcement and pouring concrete.
Power and communication lines for the toll booths are being installed.
Once the lines are in, the booths can be moved to their permanent location.
All eight booths will be operational and open to traffic in September.
Power for the plaza lighting also is going in.
Traffic continues to flow safely and efficiently through the work zone.
Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained to the duty-free facilities and the Ambassador Bridge.
