Welcome to the December 3rd edition of This Week@CA,
your source for weekly updates on what’s happening at Columbia Association.
Today we're on the Green Revolution bikes at Columbia Athletic Club,
near the Harper’s Choice Village Center.
We start this week’s episode with the latest updates:
SplashDown reopened this past weekend after repairs were completed to the water slides.
Come to the Columbia Swim Center in Wilde Lake to celebrate the best kind of downward spiral you can experience in Howard County.
SplashDown is open on Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
For more information on the great programs we’ve got going on at the Swim Center,
go to ColumbiaPools.org or call 410-730-7000.
The “Singular Sensations” exhibit opens this Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Columbia Art Center
in the Long Reach Village Center, with a free gala reception from 6 to 8 p.m.
The show runs through Dec. 16, with every item at the exhibition priced for sale for $150 or less.
This is a spotlight for numerous area artists,
and is also a must-see show for holiday shoppers — as well as those looking for art for themselves.
There’s no need to wait for the New Year to work off that weight,
not when Columbia Association (CA) can help now with an early holiday present
— certain BodyStep™ and BodyVive™ classes for free both for CA members as well as non-members.
BodyStep™ is a simple, fun athletic workout on an adjustable platform and is done to exciting music.
BodyVive™ is a high-intensity, low-impact workout that has strengthening, balance and core exercises and is done to motivating music.
For dates and times, and to register for these classes, go to the website listed on your screen.
A clothing drive organized by CA’s Teen Outreach Committee has been extended another two weeks.
We will be accepting donations of new and gently used clothes, shoes and accessories through
Friday, Dec. 14, at the Youth and Teen Center @ The Barn in the Oakland Mills Village Center.
We’re here at Columbia Athletic Club this week to talk about the return of Columbia Association’s Biggest Winner competition,
which is back for the fourth year.
Let’s talk to the Athletic Club’s assistant general manager and director of personal training, Sam Yurko.
Columbia Association's BIggest WInner is an eight week weight loss competition.
Individuals will be in teams of four with a Columbia Association personal trainer.
It's available at all three fitness facilities, including Columbia Athletic Club, Supreme Sports Club, and Columbia Gym.
The Biggest Winner has three major components.
WE have the weight loss competition which is individual percentage of weight loss winner- who will be the Biggest Winner.
We have the team competition which will be the team with the highest percentage of weight loss.
We have the BodPod Challenge which is the individual with the highest percentage of body composition change.
We also have two new components this year.
We have seminars where individuals participate in all four seminars and we will do a drawing for prizes.
We also have separate from that, four team challenges where the team that wins that challenges wins a prize.
To participate in the Biggest Winner, you do not have to be a CA member.
We do invite non-members and Columbia Residents to participate in this program.
With the price there will be a two- month Package Plan plus membership.
The kick off event will be Saturday, January 5th at Columbia Gym, starting at 12pm (noon).
The workouts actually start with your trainer, the week of January 7th.
