Are you ever confused when it's time to choose a lightener?
Well, I was once too.
My fellow Redken artists and I are going to walk you through
an important part of the Redken hair care portfolio,
our lightener collection.
As you know, modern lightening requires
more than just good technical skills.
The right product makes all the difference.
No matter what you need to do,
whether it's highlighting just a few strands
or taking the client from brunette to blonde,
Redken has a lightener that will get the job done beautifully.
Our versatile collection of lighteners are formulated
with the latest advanced technology
for amazing results every time.
Ready to go through each of the lighteners in more detail?
Let's get started.
We'll begin with Blonde Icing,
Redken's most luxurious conditioning lightener.
Blonde Icing has a rich, luxurious consistency
for a smooth application with maximum control.
It silkens, luminizes and lifts hair
to the palest shade of blonde.
There are two Blonde Icing formulas to choose from:
Power Lift, which contains ammonia and ammonia free.
Use Power Lift for darker bases, levels one to five,
and more resistant hair types.
Use the ammonia free formula for lighter bases,
levels six to ten, and less resistant hair types.
Both formulas will achieve up to seven levels of lift.
They can be used with heat
in open air freehand techniques upscale only.
Blonde Icing has a gentle fragrance
to help clients and stylists
have a more comfortable experience,
and features exclusive Lumasilk technology
to provide hair with luminous shine and silky condition.
Both formulas deliver stable, precise high lift results
while helping to protect the structure of the hair.
Let's talk a little more about technology.
Blonde Icing features cera-lipids,
which is a combination of ceramides and lipids.
Ceramides to provide cuticle reinforcement
and help protect the hair's structure
during the lightening process,
plus conditioning lipids
to help maintain hair's complete lipidic rate.
The lipidic rate is a measure
of the amount of lipids found in the hair.
Natural healthy hair has a lipidic rate of 100%.
Okay, ready to go over mixing and application?
Blonde Icing is a two-component system
with a variable mixing ratio,
which ranges from one to one, to one to three.
A thicker consistency,
the one to one ratio is ideal for open air freehand techniques,
when you want a lightener with a strong adherence to the hair.
A thinner consistency, the one to three ratio,
offers easier spreadability for on-scalp techniques,
or you can go in between.
Blonde Icing Conditioning Cream Developer
is the dedicated developer for use with both Blonde Icing formulas,
and it comes in 20, 30 and 40 volume.
It contains a conditioning palm oil derivative,
which combined with the white beeswax
in Blonde Icing to form cire-gloss,
which helps seal in moisture
and leaves hair luminous and radiant.
The calibrated Blonde Icing scoop holds
20 grams of lightener on one end
and 20 grams of developer on the other end.
So, it's always easy to achieve a perfect ratio.
For on-scalp, use 20 or 30 volume
Blonde Icing Conditioning Cream Developer.
Mix a one to one or one to three ratio,
depending on your desired consistency,
and process from 30 minutes
to a maximum of 50 minutes without using heat.
For highlighting/foils, use 20 or 30 volume developer.
Mix one to one or one to three
depending on your desired consistency.
Process from 30 minutes to a maximum of 50 minutes
without using heat.
For freehand, use 20, 30 or 40 volume developer,
mix one to one or one to three
depending on your desired consistency.
Process for 30 minutes to a maximum of 50 minutes.
If using heat, process for a maximum of 15 minutes.
Remember, use heat for off-scalp techniques only.
Now, with Blonde Icing you're always ready to give clients
their most luxurious blonde yet.
Next up is Up To 7 De-Dusted Lightener
for predictable, extra-light results.
It's designed for stylists who need a lightener they can use
for weaving, slicing, balayage and other detailing techniques.
It expands your color service possibilities
and enhances your creativity.
Up To 7 protects as it lightens
and stays moist with minimal swelling.
It's ideal for on-scalp application,
and as the name suggests, it lifts hair up to 7 levels.
Let's review Up To 7's features and benefits.
First of all, the de-dusted formula eliminates the fly-away
you expect from a powder bleach.
It contains cornstarch to help smooth and thicken the overall mixture,
as well as a combination of high performance thickening ingredients
to create a smooth, rich product texture.
It's free of added fragrance
and also contains a cationic conditioner
that ensures superior, wet combability
and significantly reduces damage
caused by brushing and combing.
Up To 7 is a two-component system that mixes
with all volumes of peroxide cream developer.
It mixes in a simple, one to one ratio
with no complicated series of instructions
in a non-metallic bowl.
For on-scalp application, mix one level scoop of Up To 7
with one ounce of 10 or 20 volume peroxide.
Process at room temperature
until desired lightness is achieved,
up to 50 minutes and do not use heat.
For off-scalp application, mix one level scoop of Up To 7
with one ounce of 10, 20, 30 or 40 volume peroxide.
Process at room temperature
until desired lightness is achieved,
up to 50 minutes and do not use heat.
Up To 7 mixes fast to produce a rich, white, creamy texture.
You'll notice that some of the lightening grains
may remain after mixing.
This will not affect the ease of the application
or its amazing lifting power.
Any remaining grains are a by-product
of the De-Dusting process
and won't affect Up To 7's performance.
Remember, the fast-acting stable lightening mixture of Up To 7
eliminates the need for heat processing.
Follow the directions, mix accordingly
and see for yourself how fast and easy blonding can be.
Next in Redken's lightener collection
is Blonde Dimension's Dust-Fee Conditioning Lightener,
a gentle alkali-buffered formula
for balance and consistent lift.
Blonde Dimensions lifts hair up to 6 levels
and can be used for on or off scalp applications.
It features an advanced cationic conditioning system
for superior combability and shine,
and an encapsulated fragrance
that releases a pleasant scent while processing.
Its concentrated formula mixes easily
and remains moist throughout processing.
The De-Dusted formula eliminates dust when scooping or mixing
and the cationic conditioning system
provides excellent conditioning properties,
superior combability and brilliant shine.
Blonde Dimensions is a two component system
that mixes with peroxide cream developer
for a creamy consistency
that remains moist throughout processing.
It's mixed in a one to one ratio of one level scoop
to one ounce of developer.
Make sure to mix the product in a well-ventilated area
and shake the internal bag before the first use.
In a non-metallic bowl, combine the recommended amount
of Blonde Dimensions and peroxide.
Mix well until you achieve a creamy consistency.
It's normal for the mixture to appear slightly loose or thin at first.
You don't need to add more powder,
just lightly whip the mixture
and the powders will quickly dissolve.
Apply to dry hair with a brush or other highlighting tool
using the technique of your choice.
For on-scalp application,
use three level scoops of Blonde Dimensions
to three ounces of 10 or 20 volume peroxide.
Process at room temperature
until desired lightness is achieved,
20 to 40 minutes and do not use heat.
For off-scalp application,
use three level scoops of Blonde Dimensions
to three ounces of 10, 20, 30 or 40 volume peroxide.
Process at room temperature until desired result is achieved,
and do not use heat.
Finally we have Lift 5/15 Cream Highlighting System,
which combines the healthy, conditioned results of a high-lift color
with a fast maximum lightening action of a bleach.
Its gentle, state of the art, non-ammonia formula
that lightens up to five levels in fifteen minutes.
It conditions hair with natural oat proteins
and can be used on all hair types and textures,
even permed and color treated hair.
Lift 5/15 can be used for all off-scalp applications
including highlighting,
creative color effects or color correction.
It expands your color services and enhances creativity
with a multitude of options.
The conditioning formula
helps to maintain the hair's moisture balance
during the de-colorizing process,
leaving it soft, shiny and fortified.
Hair is easy to detangle with less static and fly-aways
and increased manageability.
The pleasant melon fragrance makes lightening
a comfortable experience for clients and stylists.
Make sure to mix the product in a well-ventilated area
and shake the internal bag before the first use.
In a non-metallic bowl,
combine the recommended amount of highlifting cream,
highlifting booster and 40 volume Pro-Oxide cream developer.
Blend until a smooth consistency is achieved.
Follow these guidelines for mixing ratios:
one tube of highlifting cream,
two level scoops of highlifting booster
and one to two ounces of 40 volume Pro-Oxide.
Three-quarters tube of highlifting cream
with one and a half level scoops of highlifting booster
and three-quarters to one and a half ounces
of 40 volume Pro-Oxide.
One half tube of highlifting cream,
one level scoop of highlifting booster
and one half to one ounce of 40 volume Pro-Oxide.
Or one quarter tube of highlifting cream,
a half level scoop of highlifting booster
and one quarter to one half ounce 40 volume Pro-Oxide.
Apply to dry hair with a brush or other highlighting tool
using the technique of your choice.
Process with heat until the desired level of lift is achieved.
For maximum lightening action of five levels,
the recommended timing is 15 minutes with heat.
If processing without heat,
the recommended timing is 35 minutes.
Check your clients at regular intervals during processing.
When desired results are achieved,
rinse hair thoroughly and shampoo.
And don't forget,
the perfect add-on to any lightening service is
a Redken Chemistry Extreme Shot,
which provides a concentrated dose of protein
to fortify chemically distressed hair
and help reinforce the internal fiber.
