12 months of planning.
32 speeches.
Over 32,000 guests attending.
1,363 hours given by
303 staff and volunteers.
5,061 graduates
of which 4,104 students will participate in ceremonies.
Which means 4,104 handshakes and hugs.
More than 230 faculty participating in ceremonies.
7,179 chairs connected by 4,700 cable ties.
And 20 trash boxes and
30 recycle bins
emptied after every ceremony.
12,250 cars coming on campus this weekend. Woo hoo!
4279 Bachelor’s degrees,
61 students graduating Summa Cum Laude,
96 students graduating Magna Cum Laude,
and 340 students graduating Cum Laude.
447 Master’s Degrees and 283 Ph.D’s being conferred
There are 132 graduates from the Graduate School of Education, 96 of them are receiving their teaching credential.

The age of our oldest graduate, and the age of our youngest graduate.
One. The number to times that UCR's Commencement has been interrupted by an earthquake.

giving us a total of more than 90,000 alumni worldwide.
5,449 people watched Commencement online last year,
with even more expected this year.
1,063 students who transferred from a community college,
and 1,054 from a California community college.
One special day for our parents,
grandparents, and families who have sacrificed so much.
One big step for each graduate
who crosses the stage and shakes my hand.
One giant leap for humankind.
