Alright Avengers fans, this just in! Marvel's litigiously delayed box set for the Avengers
Phase One is back online for pre-order with a few NEW add-ons, including a showcase of
Marvel's upcoming phase 2 slate of movies. The phase one box set includes Iron Man 1
and 2, The Incredible Hulk starring Edward Norton as the jolly green poster child for
anger management, as well as Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, and the 1.5 billion
dollar blockbuster, The Avengers. The 219 dollar, 10 disc, 6 movie box set was
originally designed to be a replica of the Rimowa attaché, the briefcase that housed
the tesseract in the Avengers. Rimowa, Marvel, and a whole bunch of lawyers caused a delayed
release of the box set, and no replacement had been announced until now.
But it's not the same deal as before. This new box set has a case that has been redesigned
to match Tony Stark's briefcase…But don't worry, it still houses the secret to unlimited
energy. A glowing tesseract cube sits inside, surrounded by all the HD goodness that the
first wave of Marvel's super squad movies. In addition, Marvel's Phase 2 preview will
include all sorts of goodies and easter eggs. The phase 2 slate of films includes Iron Man
3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, Guardians of
the Galaxy and The Avengers 2. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that some
of the movies will have actual footage associated within the preview, and others will contain
concept art and a "few new surprises". On top of this feature, the box set will also
include deleted scenes from each of the past films, including a variation on the ending
to Thor. Feige told EW, "We went back to the editor's
assembly of each film and discovered some rare moments that dropped out of the films
early on and had not been released on prior discs. We spent an embarrassing amount of
time compiling the ‘Shield Files’ included in the box set to be sure that each character's
file was full of great, movie-accurate props and Easter eggs, which help tie all of the
