Today we will make dry black gram (Chana).
). This recipe is cooked during the festive season of navratri on navmi or astami
as god’s prasad and these Chana’s are accompanied by sooji halwa and puri.
Dry black grams are very delicious as well very nutritious. These can be served in morning or evening breakfast.
Let’s see what ingredients are required to make dry black grams.
Dry black gram (Chana) - 1 cup (washed and soaked overnight)
Green coriander - 2-3 tbsp (finely chopped)
Oil - 2-3 tbsp
Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
Asafoetida - 1-2 pinch
Ginger - 1 inch piece (sliced thinly)
Green chilly - 2 (sliced thinly)
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Mango powder - ¼ tsp
Red chilly powder - less then ¼ tsp
Garam masala - less then ¼ tsp
Salt - ½ tsp or as per taste
Firstly boil the soaked chana.
Add these chanas and ½ cup water and salt in a pressure cooker.
Cook for one simmer.
Once it simmer’s, reduce the flame and cook for 2-3 minutes more.
All the pressure from cooker has escaped; now take them out in a bowl.
Keep the stalk for further use.
Now fry the chana.
Turn on the gas, add oil, cumin seeds, asafoetida, ginger, green chilies,
coriander powder, chana stalk, red chilly powder, garam masala and mango powder.
Cook for a while, and then add boiled chanas.
Mix them well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
All the water has soaked up, now dry chana is ready.
Sprinkle some green coriander on the chana and mix well.
Take them out in a bowl.
Dry black gram (sukhe kale chane) is now ready. Very tasty chana is made.
