Namaskar Welcome to nishamadhulika.com
Today we will make besan halwa with traditional method.
Besan halwa made with this method has very awesome taste.
Let’s see what ingredients are required for making besan halwa.
Gram flour - 1 cup
Sugar - 1 cup or as per your taste
Milk - 1 cup
Ghee- 1/3 cup
Green cardamom - 4 (peeled and powdered)
Pistachios - 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
Mix milk in besan firstly for making besan halwa.
Add little amount of milk and mix until all lumps get dissolved.
Don’t add milk all together because it will take more time to dissolve the lumps.
Very thick and soft mixture is ready, now add rest of the milk as well and mix nicely.
Soft mixture of besan is ready now; keep it aside for 5 minutes.
Preheat a pan.
Now we will make halwa.
Add ghee in the pan and let it melt.
After ghee melts add besan mixture in the pan.
Let it get light brown color from the base. It will take 2 -3 minutes for this.
The besan has become little brown from the base, now turn it upside down.
Don’t worry if it breaks.
Cook for ½ minute more and then stir it for cooking more.
Once it gets little brown from other side as well, then mash the mixture.
Flame was kept to maximum but now reduce the flame.
On medium flame mash the mixture like this and cook it.
Cook until you get aroma out of it and the mixture gets mashed properly.
It takes 12-14 minutes for cooking the mixture.
Besan is now cooked well. Add 1 cup water and sugar in it.

Mix well and on medium flame cook until the halwa gets thick consistency and ghee starts separating.
Halwa is looking very greasy and is not at all sticking to the pan.
Halwa is now ready. Add cardamom powder and mix well.
Take out halwa in saucer. Add 1 tbsp ghee on top of the halwa as it gives more aroma to the halwa.
Garnish with pistachios. Use whatever dry fruit you prefer eating.

Besan halwa is ready and taste delicious.
