Transcript:
Chubby's finally opened their doors last December, eager to serve Western's campus.
After opening their doors, the restaurant was ready to send in their application for a liquor license.
A liquor license that would take a lot work to apply for...
CO-OWNER TAMMY YATES: "They do background checks and you just
kind of have to give your business plan to them and
you go through three different council meetings and they vote on it."
After a few weeks of waiting, the business was finally approved to receive a Class R liquor license.
This meant that the business could serve liquor up until midnight.
Unfortunately Chubby's forgot one detail on their liquor application...
the approval to serve alcohol on Sunday's.
Stephanie Martin: "Chubby's is awaiting to be approved to serve alcohol on Sunday's,
however they have been accepted to serve alcohol on super bowl Sunday."
The alcohol that will be served will not be draft, but served from bottles.
Yates says this is because of the limited amount of space that they have available.
But for most students this doesn't matter, as long as they can have a beer with their food.
STUDENT: "I really like to drink a beer when I eat my food.
I'm excited for it and I'm interested to see what they will have."
TAMMY YATES: "Wednesday and Thursday they will have beer this week.
We're still setting up with our distributors for our wells
our vodkas so that will probably be later on next week"
CHUBBY'S IS EXPECTING TO RECEIVE THEIR FIRST BEER SHIPMENT TODAY (Tuesday).
THEY HOPE TO HEAR BACK FROM MACOMB ABOUT SERVING ALCOHOL ON SUNDAY 'S SOON.
